Dorianne Laux is the author of four volumes of poetry, including Smoke, Awake, and her most recent, Facts About the Moon, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Patricia Smith, a four-time winner of the National Poetry Slam, is the author of five books of poetry, including Teahouse of the Almighty and her latest collection, Blood Dazzler, a National Book Award finalist and named one of National Public Radio’s “Top 5 Books for 2008.” The reading concluded with an on-stage interview conducted by Houston poet and UH Creative Writing Program faculty member Martha Serpas.
