These quotes are from former Teachers As Writers Workshop participants. Started in 1996, Inprint’s Teachers-as-Writers Workshops, underwritten by The Powell Foundation, provide tuition-free creative writing workshops for Houston-area K-12 educators. These workshops, offered as part of Inprint’s Writers Workshops, provide teachers an encouraging, intimate, and engaging environment to focus on improving their own creative writing capacities.

These workshops are led by accomplished local authors, including students, alumni, and faculty from the prestigious University of Houston Creative Writing Program. Workshops are open to K-12 educators of all backgrounds, including those who are exploring creative writing for the first time, as well as aspiring writers who want to prepare work for publication.

Workshops are conducted in various genres, including fiction, memoir, non-fiction, novel, personal essay, poetry, and others. Workshop sessions meet once a week for three hours at Inprint House, 1520 W. Main. Fall and winter/spring workshops meet for 10 weeks on Saturday mornings, summer workshops run for 8 weeks and meet on weekday mornings and afternoons. Registrations are filled on a first come first serve basis, and are limited in number to provide a supportive and accessible workshopping environment.
